People who own decks and outdoor living spaces already know how incredible it is to be able to entertain, or simply unwind, outdoors.

Sure, you can just sit on the porch in the rocking chair for some fresh air and peace and quiet; but why stop there?

Today I’m going to give you five undisputable reasons to create an outdoor living space instead of relying solely on your porch.

Connect with Nature

I don’t care if you live in the Atlanta suburbs, the surrounding countryside, or in a house in downtown Atlanta, outdoor living areas help you connect with nature and feel more at peace. Take a few minutes out of every busy day to simply walk through your outdoor living area, or sit outside for some quiet time. Teach your children the importance of just living and enjoying that amazing Georgia fresh air.

You can create your own little outdoor oasis where you can grow vegetables, herbs, or a beautiful flower garden in a relatively small space. Vertical gardens save space and allow you to grow a good amount of vegetables and herbs for cooking. Gardening in a small area is actually very therapeutic and relaxing.

Entertain Your Friends

A deck, patio, pergola, outdoor kitchen – or any other outdoor living space you can think of is perfect for entertaining friends of all ages. Organize a Halloween party this October with your friends. Host a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner on the deck or inside your screened porch. Celebrate a wedding or anniversary under your pergola or in the gazebo.

Improve Your Investment

A deck is the biggest investment you can make when it comes to home improvement. It is followed closely by remodeling the kitchen or bathroom, but in terms of home improvement that truly adds lasting value to your home, a deck takes the cake. Materials are relatively inexpensive, and you already know a great deck building company in your neighborhood! (That would be Leisure Time Decks with yours truly.)

Nearly Unlimited Chances to Build Something Unique

You’re putting off building a deck because you don’t want it to look like every other deck in the neighborhood. I can completely understand that. Call me to go over deck design ideas and materials. We’ll schedule an appointment and discuss your options. I think you’ll be surprised at the sheer number of options available for building a new deck.

More Entertaining Options

You already have a porch, why do you need a deck, too? I understand what you mean here. You can easily sit on the front porch and watch traffic pass by, so why should you build a deck? My personal take on that is pretty simple: so you don’t have to watch and listen to traffic go by! Your home will block most of the road noise so you can really enjoy peace and quiet. Your guests will enjoy the quieter area much more than the front porch, too.

It’s Georgia!

I may be a little biased because I love our beautiful state. We’re often thought of as the hub of southern hospitality where people enjoy sitting in a rocking chair on their porch or deck while sipping sweet tea and watching over the peach trees. Some of that may be a little farfetched, but I hope you know what I mean. We live in one of the most beautiful states in America. Build an outdoor living area and really enjoy that fact!
